Rhythm of Worship
As an intentionally intergenerational community that values accessibility, we are mindful that not all worship experiences speak to everyone. Some people flourish in spaces of silence, others meet God in song. For some people, nature is their cathedral, while others experience the divine at the dinner table. That’s why Holy Companion’s rhythm of worship includes a variety of practices in several different spaces. Read more about our worship practices here and visit our calendar for a full schedule of worship services and other events.

Holy Eucharist
The first Sunday of the month we meet at the Overlook Clubhouse for an intergenerational Eucharist. The term “Eucharist” means “thanksgiving.” It refers to the ancient practice of communing with God in Christ and one another through breaking bread and sharing wine. During Eucharist, we join Christians all over the world and across time in remembering Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, as we seek to embody the Way of Jesus in our own lives. At Eucharist we also pray, read scriptures, and sing music from a diverse array of traditions.

Contemplation & Nourishment
The second weekend of the month alternates between 1) a contemplative service and 2) an all-ages potluck gathering with a short service of Evening Prayer. At Evening Prayer we incorporate poetry and music into a reflective style of prayer. Evening Prayer will often focus on a theme or a person, like saints, which gives us a unique perspective to help us engage with and learn about God.

Joy in Creation
Our Joy in Creation service is a space to use our senses and imagination to engage in prayer in the beauty of nature. The prayers, music, readings, reflections, and moments of silence are chosen to help us connect with the divine through the awe and joy in the world God has created. This service is interactive, and like all of our services is intended to engage participants of all ages.
